New Delhi (NVI): A morphed viral photo has claimed that central government will impose lockdown in the country from April 9 to 19.

Dismissing the claim, the government’s Press Information Bureau (PIB) Fact Check wing said that no such announcement has been made by the government and the viral photo is fake.

“A morphed photo is claiming that the lockdown will be imposed by the Indian government from 9 to 19 April. PIBFactCheck: This claim is fake,” the PIB said.

“No such announcement has been made by the Government of India regarding Lockdown. Please do not share such misleading pictures or messages in the wrong context,” it added.

The Press Information Bureau launched this fact-checking unit in December 2019, to identify misinformation related to the government’s policies and schemes that are circulating on various social media platforms.
