New Delhi (NVI): The central government is considering a proposal to exempt battery operated vehicles from paying re-registration fee in a bid to encourage use of electronic vehicles.
In this direction, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has sought suggestions from the general public and stakeholders within 30 days of issuance of draft notification, an official release said today.
“The Ministry has issued a draft notification dated May 27, 2021, further to amend the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989 proposing to exempt Battery Operated Vehicles (BOV) from payment of fees for the purpose of issue or renewal of Registration Certificate (RC) and assignment of new registration mark, ” the statement read.
This has been notified to encourage e- mobility, the Ministry said in a release.
“Comments from general public and all stakeholders have been sought within a period of thirty days from the date of issuance of this draft notification,” it added.
