New Delhi: Parts of East, Central and Southern India are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall and the Northwest region of the country is expected to witness thunderstorms along with lightning, the IMD said today.
According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), “Heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places very likely over Coastal Karnataka; at isolated places over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Konkan & Goa and South Interior Karnataka.”
“Heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over Uttarakhand, Bihar, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, Gujarat state, Madhya Maharashtra, Telangana, Rayalaseema, North Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal and Kerala & Mahe,” it said.
“Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning & gusty winds (30-40 kmph) very likely at isolated places over Kerala & Mahe,” the IMD said.
“And Lightning is likely at isolated places over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit Baltistan & Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal & Sikkim, Odisha Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana, Rayalaseema and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal,” it said.
Strong wind (speed 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph) very likely along & off Gujarat-Maharashtra and Karnataka-Kerala coasts & adjoining Southeast Arabian Sea and Lakshadweep area.
Fishermen are advised not to venture into these areas, the IMD said.
