Rain, thunderstorms likely over Bihar, Uttarakhand and other states

New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall along with lightning and thunderstorms over several parts of India today.

“Heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places with extremely heavy falls at isolated places very likely over Coastal Karnataka, ” the IMD said.

“Heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places expected over Uttarakhand, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Konkan & Goa, South Interior Karnataka, and Kerala & Mahe, ” it said in its daily weather bulletin.

Heavy rainfall at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan, southwest Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, Madhya Maharashtra, Telangana, Rayalaseema and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, it said.

According to IMD, “Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning & gusty winds (30-40 kmph) very likely at isolated places over Telangana and Kerala & Mahe.”

Lightning at isolated places over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit Baltistan & Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Odisha, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Rayalaseema and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, the IMD said.

Strong winds (speed 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph) very likely over Southwest & Westcentral Arabian Sea and along & off Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala coasts and Lakshadweep area.

Fishermen are advised not to venture into these areas, the IMD said.
