New Delhi: The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rainfall over Gujarat during the next 24 hours and over South Peninsular and Central India from September 4-5.
“Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall activity with isolated very heavy falls very likely over Saurashtra & Kutch during next 24 hours,” the IMD said in a statement today.
“Isolated heavy falls also very likely over Gujarat Region, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Haryana on 02nd and over Saurashtra & Kutch on 03rd September,” it said.
According to IMD, “Rainfall activity over south peninsular India is very likely to increase from September 4 with fairly widespread to widespread rainfall activity & isolated heavy falls very likely over Konkan & Goa, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Tamil Nadu during 4-6; Karnataka, Kerala & Mahe and Marathwada on 05th & 06th and over Madhya Maharashtra on 06th September.”
“Rainfall activity over Central India is very likely to increase from 05th September with fairly widespread rainfall activity & isolated heavy falls over Chhattisgarh during 04th-06th; Vidarbha, East Madhya Pradesh on 05th & 06th and over West Madhya Pradesh on 06th September,” the IMD said.
Scattered to fairly widespread rainfall activity likely to continue over East & Northeast India during next 4-5 days with isolated very heavy falls over Sub- Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim on 02nd & 03rd and over Assam & Meghalaya on 02nd.
Isolated heavy falls also very likely over Odisha during 03rd-06th; Assam & Meghalaya on 03rd & 04th; Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Bihar on 02nd September, it said.
