Ahmedabad: A Pakistani fishing boat, with 10 Pakistani men on board, has been seized by the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) after it was found in Indian waters in the Arabian Sea.
The ICG ‘ANKIT’, during an operational patrol at Arabian Sea, spotted the Pakistani boat ‘Yaseen’ along with 10 crew, operating in Indian waters during the intervening last night, a Defence Ministry spokesman said today.
On seeing the ICG ship, the Pakistani boat initially attempted to flee towards Pakistani waters, he said.
However, quick response by ICG ship, despite marginal weather and visibility conditions, made the Pakistani boat to stop.
“The said fishing boat, when interdicted and interrogated, could not justify their presence in Indian waters and was therefore apprehended by ICG ship,” the spokesman said.
During the initial boarding, the Pakistani boat ‘Yaseen’, registered at Ketibandar, was found in possession of approximately 2000 kgs of fish along with 600 Ltrs of diesel, he said.
The boat, along with the crew, has been towed to Porbandar in Gujarat for further detailed investigation and joint interrogation.
