New Delhi: The Government of India today announced a 3 per cent hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) for central government employees, a decision that will benefit 47.68 lakh serving employees and 68.62 lakh pensioners.
The decision, taken at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will be effective from January 1, this year, an official spokesperson said.
This hike will be over the existing rate of 31 per cent of the basic pay/pension to compensate for the rise in prices.
Earlier, the DA was hiked by 3 per cent to 31 per cent with effect from July 1 last year.
