Jakarta (NVI): Indonesians lapped up a rare Indian visual treat as they peeped into the life and rich cultural heritage of the world’s largest democracy captured through the eyes of camera at a special photo exhibition here on Saturday.
The unique exhibition titled “India through Indonesian Eyes” showcased the work of P.J. Leo, noted photojournalist of The Jakarta Post. It has been organised by Embassy of India in Jakarta in partnership with The Jakarta Post and will remain open till November 22.
The event is part of the ongoing celebrations of the 70th Anniversary of Establishment of India-Indonesia Diplomatic Relations and is aimed to promote a better understanding of Indian arts and culture amongst Indonesian audiences.
This special photo exhibit would is planned to be organised across several cities in Indonesia next year.
The event was attended by Ambassador of India Pradeep Kumar Rawat, Editor in Chief of Jakarta Post Nezar Patria, Senior Editor Endy Bayuni, ambassador of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka , ambassador of Japan and ambassador of Russia to Indonesia among others.
Leo is a famous photographer of Indonesia and has organised several photo exhibitions in Indonesia. Leo covered the Kumbh Mela from February 20, 2019 to February 24, 2019. During the visit he also visited Delhi and Agra. Following his visit, The Jakarta Post published a special article on India in March 2019, featuring photos from Leo’s trip.
