One Army jawan martyred, two injured in IED blast near LoC

Jammu (NVI): One Army jawan was killed and two others were injured, in a suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast, along the Line of Control (LoC) in Pallanwala area of Akhnoor Sector in Jammu and Kashmir today.

According to official statement, the martyred soldier has been identified as 40-year-old Havildar Santosh Kumar.

“At around 1100 hrs a suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was triggered in Pallanwala, Akhnoor Sector (J&K),” the statement said.

In the incident, Havildar Santosh Kumar sustained grievous injuries and was evacuated to Army Command Hospital in Udhampur where he was provided medical aid and resuscitation. However, Havildar Santosh Kumar succumbed to his injuries, the statement said.

The martyred soldier hailed from Pura Bhadauria Village of Agra district in Uttar Pradesh and is survived by his wife Vimla Devi.

“Havildar Santosh Kumar was a brave, highly motivated and sincere soldier. The Nation will always remain indebted to him for the supreme sacrifice and devotion to duty,” the statement added.

Meanwhile, Pakistan yet again violated ceasefire at LoC in Naushera sector, Rajouri district in J&K today, reports said adding that Indian Army has retaliated the unprovoked shelling.
