9 paramilitary personnel killed, 14 injured in suicide attack in Balochistan

Quetta: In a major hit at Pakistani military, a suicide bomber today killed at least 9 personnel of the Balochistan Constabulary (BC) and injured 14 others in Bolan in Balochistan.

The bomber, riding a motorcycle, rammed his vehicle into a van in which the BC personnel were travelling, according to officials.

The van was targeted on a bridge in an area bordering Sibbi and Kacchi districts, they said.

It was on its way to Quetta, returning from Sibbi after performing security duty at a festival there.

Kachhi Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mahmood Notezai, while confirming the casualties, said the injured people have been moved to the Sibbi Civil Hospital.

Later, a government helicopter flew the injured officers to Quetta from Bolan, Balochistan Information Department said in a statement.

An emergency was imposed at hospitals across Quetta.

The Balochistan Constabulary (BC) is a provincial police force that provides security at important events and in sensitive areas, including jails.
