LG plans industrial policy reforms in Ladakh Budget 2020-21

Leh (NVI): In a renewed bid to promote small scale industries in the newly-formed Union Territory of Ladakh, its Lieutenant Governor RK Mathur plans to bring the required industrial policy reforms in the upcoming budget of the UT.

During a meeting with Chamber of Industries Leh at Raj Niwas here yesterday, the Ladakh administrator assured the business community about reforming and modifying industrial policies in the upcoming Budget of 2020-21, a statement said.

These policies would boost the small scale industries of the Union Territory besides, encouraging entrepreneurial aspects, generating employment avenues, and promoting overall development of the region, he said.

He had a detailed conversation with the president and members regarding small scale industries of the district and related issues, the statement added.

Notably, Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh came into being on October 31 when the state of Jammu and Kashmir ceased to exist.

The state was divided as per the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Bill, 2019 passed by Parliament on August 6. Simultaneously, its special status granted under Article 370 was also abolished.
