Srinagar, Aug 28 (NVI): Peoples Conference led by Sajad Gani Lone today released the first list of candidates comprising seven candidates.
An official release issued by the Peoples Conference chief reads that seven leaders have been nominated as contesting candidates of PC that include: 1.Abdul Gani Vakil from Rafiabad, 2.Nasir Ahmed Laway from Kulgam, 3.Abid Hussain Ansari from Zadibal, 4.Irfan Matoo from Eidgah, 5.Dr Bashir Ahmed Chalkoo from Uri 6.Asif Lone from Baramulla and 7.Muhammad Hamza Lone from Gurez.
This is the first list of candidates PC has released. Sources in the PC said that Sajad will contest from Handwara where he will face National Conference candidate Chowdhary Muhammad Ramzan.
Sajad lost the recently held Parliamentary elections from North Kashmir Lok Sabha seat that was bagged by jailed leader Engineer Rashid. Sajad was at third slot while National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah was the second runner up.
J&K is all set to witness first assembly election after a decade from September 18. Almost 600 additional companies of security forces will be deployed for the smooth conduct of polls. NC, Congress and CPI (M) have already entered into a pre-poll alliance on all 90 seats. The NC and Congress will also contest friendly on five seats. (News Vibes of India)
