Srinagar, Aug 29 (NVI): The Election Commission of India (ECI) today issued the notification for filing of nomination papers for the second phase of elections in Jammu and Kashmir starting on September 25.
As per the notification, a copy of which is with the NVI, last date for submitting the nomination papers is September 5 and the scrutiny will be take place on September 6. The last date of withdrawing the nomination forms is September 9, as per the notification.
Elections will be held on September 25 for the second phase.
The timing of polling is 7 am to 6 pm, the notification states. Counting of votes will be done on October 4.
The seats going to polls in this phase include Kangan (ST), Ganderbal, Hazratbal, Khanyar, Habbakadal, Lal Chowk, Channapora, Zadibal, Eidgah, Central Shalteng, Budgam, Beerwah, Khansahib, Chrar-i-Sharief, Chadoora, Gulabgarh (ST), Reasi, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi, Kalakote – Sunderbani, Nowshera Rajouri (ST), Budhal (ST), Thannamandi (ST), Surankote (ST), Poonch Haveli and Mendhar (ST).
Pertinently, the first phase of elections will take place on September 18. There are 279 candidates in fray from 24 Assembly segments. The papers of 36 candidates including the jailed cleric Sarjan Bakati were rejected on the pretext of not having the ‘oath certificates’.(News Vibes of India)
