Srinagar, Sep 09 (NVI): National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah today said that it took BJP 70 years to roll back Article 370 and what if it will take National Conference-Congress a few years to get it back.
Talking to reporters on the side-lines of a political rally at Pattan in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, Dr Farooq said that BJP had to wait for 70 long years to take away Article 370. “What if it takes us (NC-Congress) a few years to get it back. We will get it back come what may,” he said in response to a query that Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently stated in Jammu that nobody can restore Article 370 as the same had gone forever.
He alleged that at present J&K was “facing political crisis” and New Delhi was responsible for that. “We have to strive hard to pull J&K out of this uncertainty,” he said. About Taj Mohiuddin getting support from Apni Party, Dr Farooq said that who forced him to leave Congress where he remained for 20 long years.
He said post Article 370 abrogation, BJP claimed that terrorism would be wiped out from J&K. “But what happened, terrorism shifted its base to Jammu. Who is responsible for this,” he said. Dr Farooq also said it were the BJP leaders who were responsible for IC 814 plane hijack on December 24, 1999 by Harkatul Mujahideen terrorists. “Who took the plane to Kandhar, Afghanistan,” Dr Farooq said.
He said NC-Congress will emerge victorious and form the next government in J&K. About former Congress president Vikar Rasool Wani’s allegations that NC did nothing for Banihal, Dr Farooq said NC-Congress alliance will remain intact without Vikar. “Let him say what he wants to,” he said.
