New Delhi (NVI): All three private telecom operators of the country have decided to raise call and data plan charges for prepaid customer with effect from tomorrow.

The top three telecom operators — Bharti Airtel, Realiance Jio and Vodafone-Idea — said they will raise prices of their prepaid voice and data services, ending a protracted tariff war that dragged rates to the lowest in the world.

The tariffs of both Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea will cost up to 42 per cent more compared to the price that pre-paid customers pay at present in the “unlimited” category. These tariffs will be applicable from December 3.

While, Reliance Jio has increased the mobile services rates by up to 40 per cent. The hike in tariff of Reliance Jio will come into effect from December 6.

“Airtel’s new plans, represent tariff increases in the range of a mere 50 paise per day to Rs 2.85 per day and offer generous data and calling benefits,” the company said in a statement.

Vodafone Idea in a statement said that it will charge six paise per minute for every outgoing call made by customers on to the network of other operators.

“New ‘All in One’ plans across multiple price points, with unlimited voice and data, to meet the needs of all customer segments. These plans will have a fair usage policy for calls to other mobile networks and customers will get up to 300 percent more benefits,” the RIL said in a statement.

Meanwhile, shares of telecom services providers rallied up to 10 per cent on the BSE in the early morning trade today on the back of tariff hike plan.

Among individual stocks, Bharti Airtel surged 10 per cent to Rs 486, Reliance Industries (RIL) hit a new high of Rs 1,614, up 4 per cent, while Vodafone Idea (VIL) soared 24 per cent to Rs 8.44 on the BSE.
