Srinagar, Dec 21 (NVI): Responding to the growing concerns over the reservation policy in Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today reiterated his government’s commitment to thoroughly addressing the matter.
He said that the issue was a key part of the party’s manifesto during the assembly elections, and the creation of a cabinet sub-committee reflects the government’s dedication to fulfilling its promise.
“The sub-committee has been notified recently and is currently engaging with stakeholders to ensure a fair and comprehensive approach,” said Omar in a statement here. He also pointed out that the reservation policy is under review by the Hon’ble High Court of J&K, and the government will abide by the final judgment once all legal avenues are explored.
With protests planned in Srinagar to highlight concerns about the reservation policy, the Chief Minister assured the public that their voices were not being ignored. “Peaceful protest is a democratic right, but it’s important to know that the issue is being handled with due process. The government is taking all necessary steps to ensure fairness,” he said. Earlier, NC MP Syed Aga Ruhullah Mehdi had stated that he would protest along with candidates outside CM’s residence tommoro against reservation policy. (New Vibes of India)
