Quetta (Balochistan), Jan 8 (NVI) In a huge development, dozens of freedom fighters of Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) today swooped upon a town in Khuzdar district of Balochistan and took control of it, after destroying the local police station and some other important government buildings.
“Baloch Liberation Army freedom fighters have taken complete control of the Zehri area of Khuzdar today,” its spokesman Jeeyand Baloch said in a statement sent to NVI tonight.
“The fighters have seized all government institutions and set fire to the police station. Zehri remains under the control of Baloch fighters,” he said in a brief statement and added that a detailed statement would be issued later.
The freedom fighters have also set up Check-posts and ambushes at different places to confront any reinforcements that may be sent by the Pakistani military.
According to reports, the freedom fighters, estimated to be between 60 and 70 in number, arrived in Zehri Tehsil in four vehicles at around afternoon.
They first attacked a police station and vandalized it as the personnel there fled.
Then they stormed a bank nearby and looted it.
They took control of the main bazar of Zehri and established 2-3 check posts.
They are also reported to have established a block on Balbal Zehri road and Transan road.
On the nearby heights, they have established ambush sites for any incoming forces.
They also made announcements over loud speakers of masjid, saying they have taken full control of the town.
They were also seen talking to the locals, explaining to them why they were there. (NVI)
