Quetta, Aug 11 (NVI) Even as the Pakistani regime snapped all basic necessities to the people in occupied Balochistan, freedom fighters carried out attacks at the occupying military at several places across the region where this day (today) is commemorated as the ‘Independence Day’.
The Baloch people consider August 11, 1947 as the ‘Independence Day’ of Balochistan as it was on this date that the erstwhile princely state of Kalat, comprising area of Balochistan, adopted the Declaration of Independence following partition of British India.
The Independence, however, was short-lived as Pakistan forcibly captured it in March 1948 and continues to occupy it illegally since then.
The Baloch people have since been struggling and fighting for freedom from Pakistan, using violent and non-violent means.
In run up to today, the Pakistani regime imposed all kinds of restrictions and suspended even basic necessities like water, electricity and internet in Balochistan.
Undeterred by the clampdown, armed Baloch freedom fighters attacked Pakistani forces at several places, causing immense loss to men and material.
Setting the tone for today’s actions, Baloch freedom fighters last night carried out an IED attack on a vehicle of the Pakistani forces in New Town area of Gwadar, killing at least 6 personnel.
In Nasirabad, Baloch fighters attacked a camp of the Pakistani forces from two sides, according to local reports.
Loud sounds of explosions and gunfire were heard for a long time after that, the reports said, adding there were definitely several casualties among the Pakistani forces which were suppressed by the occupying regime.
To counter the fighters, the Pakistani forces dropped a mortar using a quadcopter and it landed on a mosque which was badly damaged.
The freedom fighters then shot down the quadcopter.
The freedom fighters also set up a road blockade on the highway in Nasirabad, checking vehicles for the Pakistani military and intelligence personnel.
Blockades were also set up by the freedom fighters on the Highway in Jhao where a check post of the Pakistani Levies was captured and set ablaze.
Even last night the the freedom fighters blocked the main highway between Awaran and Karachi in the Sirdh area for four hours, during which they conducted searches of the vehicles.
The freedom fighters also captured the check post of the Levies in Sirdh Majid Pir area, seized their weapons and other equipment and set ablaze the post.
The Zamran Dilak area also saw freedom fighters attacking with heavy weapons a military check post. Sounds of explosions and gunfire were heard for a long time, the locals reported. (NVI)
