Srinagar, Mar 7 (NVI): Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg on Saturday reviewed the progress of construction of transit accommodation for migrant employees across the Kashmir division, officials said Chairing a meeting here, the Divisional Commissioner took stock of the status of flats being constructed at multiple locations in the Valley and the availability of essential services.
Officials informed the meeting that out of the total 6,000 flats being constructed at 20 locations across Kashmir, as many as 4,112 flats have been completed so far. Of these, 3,257 flats have already been allotted to migrant employees.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioners, the Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner (Migrants) and chief engineers of the power, water and mechanical departments.
During the review, officials said that around 680 additional flats are expected to be completed by the end of April 2026.
The Divisional Commissioner directed the concerned departments to ensure completion of the remaining flats along with allied infrastructure within the stipulated timelines.
He also asked Deputy Commissioners to personally visit the project sites along with officials of the executing agencies to resolve issues hindering the progress of works.
Garg further directed departments to float tenders for the pending works at the earliest to ensure timely completion of the projects, officials said.(NVI)
