Srinagar, Mar 25 (NVI): Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg on Wednesday dismissed rumours about any possible lockdown, urging people to remain calm and rely only on official sources for information.

Speaking to reporters, he said there is no proposal for a lockdown at present. “Rumours are being circulated, but there is no such update from the government. If any decision is taken in the national interest, it will be officially announced by the Prime Minister or the Government of India,” he said.

Garg assured that essential supplies are sufficient and are being closely monitored. “Stocks of essential commodities are adequate, and their availability and distribution are being ensured. There is no need for panic buying,” he added.

He also issued a stern warning against misinformation, stating that strict directions have been given to curb rumour-mongering and action will be taken against those spreading false information. “People must rely only on official government handles for authentic updates,” he said.

On the security front, the Divisional Commissioner said the situation remains stable and under constant review. “There is no change in the security scenario. Regular joint reviews are being conducted by the administration and police,” he said.

Highlighting the ongoing tourist season, he noted a steady rise in visitor numbers following the opening of the Tulip Garden. “Tourist footfall is being closely monitored, and we invite tourists to visit Kashmir in large numbers during the spring and summer season,” he added.(NVI)
