Water Supply to Remain Disrupted in Parts of Srinagar on April 6: Officials

Srinagar, Apr 2 (NVI): The water supply in several parts of Srinagar and adjoining areas is likely to remain affected for nearly 24 hours on April 6 due to urgent repair works on the Sindh Power Canal water, officials said on Thursday.

The public notice issued by the Water Works Division Srinagar, the repair work will be carried out by the Canal and Irrigation authorities on April 6, impacting raw water supply to key water treatment plants at Alusteng and Rangil.

“As a result, potable water supply in major parts of Srinagar city and adjoining areas may face disruption for approximately 24 hours, beginning from 6 am on Monday (April 6) to 6 am on Tuesday (April 7),” the notice said.

The affected areas include Zakora, Gulab Bagh, Alusteng, Khalmulla, Habak, Naseem Bagh, Buchpora, Soura, Anchar, Zoonimar, Nowshera, Hawal, Alamgari Bazar, Rajouri Kadal, Nallahmar, Nowhatta, Lal Bazar, Hazratbal, Nigeen, Rainawari, Khanyar, Nawab Bazar, Habba Kadal, Basant Bagh, Karan Nagar, Eidgah, Maharajgunj, Zaina Kadal, Batamaloo and adjoining localities.

Authorities have advised residents to store sufficient water to meet their needs during the period of disruption.

Officials said the PHE Provincial Control Room will remain operational round-the-clock to address public grievances regarding water shortage.

They also expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to the public.(NVI)
