Srinagar, Apr 03 (NVI) : Serious allegations of black marketing and irregularities in LPG distribution have surfaced from Qazigund, with residents accusing dealers of exploiting consumers amid alleged administrative inaction.

A local resident claimed that he received a message showing delivery of an LPG refill on March 29 despite not having received any cylinder. “This is a gross violation. Dealers are diverting cylinders to influential people through black marketing,” he alleged.

Consumers further accused LPG distributors of creating artificial shortages by hoarding stock and selling cylinders at inflated prices. Several residents said delivery charges are being levied even when cylinders are collected directly from distribution points.

Despite repeated complaints to the concerned authorities and the consumer affairs department, locals said no effective action has been taken so far.

Meanwhile, residents also alleged that some shopkeepers are selling essential commodities at exorbitant rates, while local bread makers have reportedly hiked prices and discontinued the ₹5 roti, adding to the burden on economically weaker sections.

Responding to the allegations, Assistant Director FCS&CA Anantnag, Muzaffar Ahmad Malik said that the matter will be looked into and strict action will be taken against the violators.

Locals have urged the administration to act swiftly, ensure transparency in LPG distribution, regulate prices, and provide relief to the common people.(NVI)
