Jammu, Jun 5 (NVI): Authorities on Friday suspended the annual Shri Machail Mata Yatra and Shri Mindhal Mata Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district due to adverse weather conditions, officials said.
The district administration said the decision was taken in view of continuous rainfall, slippery road conditions and the threat of shooting stones along the pilgrimage routes, which could endanger the safety of devotees.
Pilgrims have been advised not to undertake the yatra on Friday and to stay at safe locations until further instructions are issued, officials said.
The administration said the order came into effect immediately and that the situation is being monitored closely. A decision on the resumption of the pilgrimages will be taken after reviewing the weather and road conditions, they added.(NVI)
