Srinagar, July 4 (NVI): Security forces have surrounded at least two terrorists of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) outfit in a forest area of Shopian district in Kashmir and an operation is underway to flush them out.
Intense firing is being heard from the encounter site.
The operation started on Saturday evening after security forces receiving specific input about the presence of two terrorists — Zakir and Lateif — in the particular area in Saidpora village.
Soon after, a cordon was laid around the specified area and a search operation was launched by the security forces, comprising the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF, the officials said.
As the searches began, the hiding terrorists fired gunshots and the security forces retaliated.
The operation is still underway. (NVI)
