UP Woman Dies After Collecting RFID Card for Amarnath Yatra in Jammu

Jammu, July 9 (NVI): A 42-year-old woman pilgrim from Uttar Pradesh died after she fell unconscious at the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu on Thursday before commencing the annual Shri Amarnath Yatra, officials said.

They said the woman collapsed shortly after collecting her RFID card at the base camp. She was immediately taken to the Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital, Jammu, where doctors declared her dead.

The deceased was identified as Geeta Devi, wife of Kaalu and a resident of Uttar Pradesh.

According to officials, the exact cause of death will be known after the completion of medico-legal formalities.

Family members said Geeta Devi had completed the registration process and collected her RFID card before suddenly losing consciousness.

They said the family would return home with her body without undertaking the pilgrimage.—(NVI)
