Srinagar, July 9 (NVI): Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday reviewed the arrangements for the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra at the Pantha Chowk Yatra Transit Camp here and directed officials to ensure that no pilgrim faces any inconvenience during the annual pilgrimage.
During his visit to the transit camp and Yatri Niwas at Pantha Chowk, Sinha inspected arrangements related to accommodation, sanitation, security, healthcare, drinking water, power supply, firefighting and other essential services.
Interacting with officials and pilgrims, the Lieutenant Governor stressed the need for round-the-clock care for devotees.
“From registration to accommodation and food, no pilgrim should face any inconvenience. It is our collective responsibility to make their stay in Jammu and Kashmir comfortable,” he said.
Sinha said the pilgrimage has witnessed a higher footfall this year compared to the corresponding period last year, describing it as a positive sign for tourism and the local economy.
He also called for promoting Jammu and Kashmir’s handicrafts and handloom products among pilgrims to support local artisans and strengthen the ‘One District One Product’ initiative.
The Lieutenant Governor lauded the coordinated efforts of the civil administration, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, police, security forces and other departments in ensuring smooth conduct of the Yatra.
He directed officials to maintain close coordination for effective crowd management, seamless registration and timely dissemination of information to pilgrims.
Sinha also ordered strict legal action against those involved in fraudulent registration practices.
Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board CEO Mandeep K. Bhandari, IGP Kashmir V K Birdi, Divisional Commissioner Srinagar Anshul Garg and other senior civil and police officers accompanied the Lieutenant Governor during the visit.—(NVI)
