Srinagar/Jammu, July 9 (NVI): Three pilgrims undertaking the annual Amarnath Yatra died separately in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, officials said.
A 58-year-old pilgrim from Delhi, identified as Rajeev Kumar, a resident of Bhajanpura Garhi Mendu in northeast Delhi, collapsed near the exit gate at the Sheeshnag base camp along the Pahalgam route.
He was immediately shifted to the camp hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Officials said the preliminary cause of his death is suspected to be a heat-related attack. Medico-legal formalities are underway.
In another incident, a male pilgrim, identified as Raman Bahi, a resident of Ankleshwar in Gujarat, was found dead inside a tent at Domail on the Baltal route on Thursday morning after completing the pilgrimage a day earlier.
Officials said the body was shifted to the Base Hospital at Baltal for medico-legal formalities.
The exact cause of death is yet to be ascertained.
Meanwhile, a 42-year-old woman pilgrim from Uttar Pradesh died after she fell unconscious at the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu before commencing her pilgrimage.
Officials said she collapsed shortly after completing the required formalities at the base camp.
She was rushed to Government Medical College Hospital, Jammu, where doctors declared her dead.
The cause of death is being ascertained, and medico-legal formalities are underway.—(NVI)
