Another UAPA Accused Held During Amarnath Yatra Security Check in J-K  Anantnag

Srinagar, Jul 21 (NVI): Police on Tuesday apprehended another person booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) during security checking for the ongoing Amarnath Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district, officials said.

The accused was intercepted during routine checking at Langanbal with the assistance of the Facial Recognition System (FRS) deployed along the yatra route, they said.

The officials identified the accused as Danish Amin Reshi, a resident of Veersaran village in Anantnag district.

They said the FRS generated an alert during verification, following which police confirmed that Reshi was an accused in a UAPA case registered at Pahalgam police station in 2021.

The accused was taken into custody and further legal proceedings have been initiated in accordance with law, the officials added.(NVI)
