Anantnag, Oct 13 (NVI): The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is conducting extensive area surveillance using drone cameras in the Alstop area along National Highway-1 in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district to monitor the prevailing situation along the highway and adjoining villages, officials said on Tuesday.

The drone-based surveillance is aimed at assessing ground conditions, keeping track of movement and maintaining heightened security in areas connected to the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, they said.

CRPF personnel are using the aerial surveillance to monitor the highway stretch and nearby habitations as part of security measures to maintain vigilance in the strategically important road corridor.

The exercise is intended to strengthen monitoring capabilities, facilitate a better assessment of the ground situation and help security personnel remain alert to any emerging developments along the highway and its adjoining areas, officials said.

The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway serves as a vital road link connecting the Kashmir Valley with the rest of the country, making security monitoring along the route and its adjoining areas important for the smooth movement of traffic and public safety.—(NVI)
