Two men held for stoning a Kashmir-bound bus in Haryana

Chandigarh, Oct 19 (NVI): Haryana Police has arrested two men in connection with the stoning of a Kashmir-bound luxury bus in Karnal, with its Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini assuring safety of every citizen and visitor to the state.

The bus, with registration number of Jammu and Kashmir, was stoned by two men on the night of October 17 at a dhaba in Karnal when it stopped there for dinner while travelling from Delhi to Srinagar.

In a post on X, Saini said the Haryana Police had taken immediate action in the matter.

The police investigation revealed that the altercation stemmed from a parking dispute between the drivers of two vehicles, he said.

An FIR has been registered in the case, and both accused have been arrested, Saini said, adding that further legal proceedings were underway.

According to the driver, the car occupants, whose vehicle was already there, objected to the way the bus was parked and wanted it moved away.

He alleged that the car occupants got more furious after noticing that the bus had registration number of J&K and pelted stones at it, causing injuries to a few passengers besides damaging the wind shields.

J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had described the incident as unfortunate and called upon Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and the state police to take prompt action against those involved.

He urged the authorities to identify the culprits and ensure that such incidents are not repeated.

National Conference spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar also condemned the alleged attack, describing it as a hate crime. (NVI)
