Srinagar, Mar 14 (NVI): Social-political activist and former candidate from the Eidgah constituency, Mohammad Faheem Reshi, on Saturday urged the government to take immediate steps to ensure the availability of LPG cylinders and other essential commodities across Jammu and Kashmir ahead of the upcoming Eid festival.
Reshi expressed concern over the difficulties faced by the public in booking LPG cylinders, claiming that several gas agencies are reportedly refusing to accept online bookings, which is creating hardships for residents, particularly those from economically weaker sections.
According to Reshi, the issue has become a matter of serious concern as many families depend on timely LPG supply for their daily cooking needs, especially during the festive period.
“It is unfortunate that many gas agencies are not accepting online LPG bookings, causing unnecessary inconvenience to common people,” he said, calling for immediate intervention from the administration.
He also urged authorities to take strict action against agencies that are either refusing or delaying online LPG bookings without valid reasons.
Questioning the administration’s response to the issue, Reshi said the government must ensure accountability and transparency in the distribution of essential commodities.
“The government must ensure that LPG cylinders and other essential items are available to the people before Eid so that families, especially those from poorer sections, do not face hardship during the festival,” he added.
Reshi appealed to the government to prioritize the matter and take prompt steps to provide relief to the public ahead of the Eid celebrations.(NVI)
