Srinagar, Mar 08 (NVI) : The Jammu and Kashmir government on Sunday announced that all educational institutions across the Kashmir region will reopen from Monday after remaining closed for a week as a precautionary measure.

Education Minister Sakina Itoo said the decision was taken after reviewing the prevailing ground situation in the Valley.

“All schools, colleges and universities in the Kashmir region will reopen from Monday after assessing the situation,” Itoo told (NVI).

The government had ordered the temporary closure of educational institutions last week to ensure the safety of students amid protests reported in parts of Jammu and Kashmir.

Meanwhile, schools up to Class 8 are also scheduled to reopen following a winter break of more than two months. Earlier, academic activities for Classes 9 to 12 had resumed on February 23 in the Kashmir division and winter zones of the Jammu region after a winter vacation of over 70 days.(NVI)
