Jammu, Dec 08(NVI): Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Udhampur district of Jammu Amod Nagpure today said that two policemen were killed by the fratricide-cum suicide incident and AK-47 riffle was used in the act.
He said that the third officer fortunately survived the attack. “Police personnel were immediately dispatched to the scene and initial investigations have confirmed the use of the AK-47 in the incident,” he said.
The bodies of the deceased officers have been shifted to Government Medical College (GMC) Udhampur for postmortem and other official procedures.
The SSP also said that the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team has arrived at the spot and they have taken samples’ and evidence.
The incident happened early this morning when a police vehicle from Sopore, Baramulla district of North Kashmir was on way to Reasi district. When it reached, Rehemberi, Udhampur district, sudden gunfire was heard after the police team from Police station Rehemberi, Udhampur reached the spot and informed the seniors.
The exact motive behind the incident is still under investigation. Police officials are working on various leads to determine the actual cause–(News Vibes of India)
