Srinagar, Jan 24(NVI): Inspector General of Police Kashmir, V K Birdi, on Friday assured that foolproof security arrangements have been made for the upcoming Republic Day celebrations, with modern technology being utilized to enhance preparedness. He urged people to participate in large numbers, emphasizing that the event symbolizes unity and belongs to the people.

Speaking at the full dress rehearsal for Republic Day in Srinagar, the IGP said, “All security measures have been put in place to ensure the safety and smooth conduct of the celebrations. Advanced surveillance systems, drones, and other cutting-edge technology are being deployed to make the arrangements more effective and up to the mark. People should come in large numbers to witness this event as Republic Day is the people’s event.”

On the issue of tackling the drug menace in the region, the IGP highlighted the administration’s zero-tolerance policy. “The fight against drug abuse will be taken to its logical conclusion. All habitual offenders involved in the drug trade are under close watch, and no one will be spared,” he said, addressing concerns about larger networks of drug traffickers.

Responding to queries about monitoring surrendered militants and individuals with questionable activities, the IGP added, “We have a robust Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to keep such elements under surveillance. Vigil is being maintained to ensure peace and security for all citizens.”

By combining advanced technology with traditional security measures, the police aim to deliver a seamless and safe Republic Day celebration, while continuing efforts to address pressing issues like drug trafficking and law enforcement challenges.(News Vibes of India)
