Jammu, Jul 9 (NVI): Chief of Army Staff General Dhiraj Seth on Thursday reviewed the security situation and operational preparedness along the Line of Control (LoC) in the border districts of Poonch, Rajouri and Sunderbani in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.

During his visit to the forward areas, the Army Chief was briefed on the prevailing security scenario, operational deployments, surveillance measures, field innovations and the counter-insurgency grid in the region, they said.

Officials said General Seth also reviewed the progress of infrastructure development and people-centric initiatives being undertaken to support border residents living in the country’s first villages.

The Army Chief commended officers and troops for their professionalism, operational excellence and dedication to duty, and asked them to remain vigilant, mission-focused and maintain a high level of operational readiness to safeguard the nation’s borders, the officials said.

The visit comes amid continued high alert along the LoC, where the Army remains deployed to maintain security and prevent infiltration, they added.—(NVI)
