Muzaffarabad (POJK), July 9: In the latest round of brutalities, Pakistani forces today killed two young men and injured several others as they resorted to firing and shelling at demonstrators in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
The personnel of Pakistani paramilitary forces — Rangers and Frontier Corps — fired directly at a crowd of peaceful protesters in Bagh area of POJK.
At least two men were killed and several others were injured in the firing.
The latest brutal action comes after a number of such crimes committed by the Pakistani forces, which have resulted in the killing and injuries to hundreds of Kashmiris over the last one month.
“Starting from June 5, the rulers (Pakistan) initiated a massacre of peaceful, unarmed people, which continues unabated to this day,” said Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), a conglomerate of non-political organisations of POJK, which is leading a sustained mass agitation against Pakistani atrocities and oppression.
“Over the past month, dozens of individuals have been martyred, hundreds injured and thousands have gone missing…. Even the bodies of the martyrs have been kept in custody (by Pakistani forces),” JAAC added in a post on its X handle while condeming the latest brutal action by Pakistani forces.
“Street firing, blockades on food and medicine, shutdowns of communication means, raids on homes — in short the Pharaonic tyranny, Yazidi brutality, and barbarism being inscribed in Pakistan-administered Jammu Kashmir constitutes one of the darkest chapters in human history,” it added.

The JAAC said it had given the government a deadline till yesterday (July 8) to accept its demands, which has passed without any meaningful negotiations taking place.
It said it has fulfilled “all political, social, legal and moral obligations” and “are prepared to move forward and collectively face the bullets peacefully.”
The JAAC went on to add: “We have pledged that we will not betray the blood of our martyrs and will not bow our heads before any power. Upholding the legacy of our forefathers, we will trample every form of oppression and no one will be able to stop this movement until the last Kashmiri draws breath.” (NVI)
