Srinagar (NVI): Army personnel today rescued a mother and her newborn child, who were trapped in snow blizzard, by carrying them for almost 6km in knee deep snow to their home in remote area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

A COB team of 28 RR Bn received a distress call from Farooq Khasana, resident of Dardpura Lolab and sprang into action, according to a statement.

“Due to heavy snowfall all roads were in non-trafficable condition and the newborn and mother were trapped in snow blizzard,” the statement added.

Following the call, the troops reached out to assist the family and helped them reach their home safely.

This act of kindness is well appreciated by civil population and health authorities, the statement noted.

The father of the newborn expressed his sincere gratitude for all the assistance the Army provided. He said that the last resort of Dardpura villagers, Markul camp never fails them.
