Army vehicle falls into river in Ladakh; 7 soldiers die, 19 injured

Leh: In a severely tragic accident, 7 Army men died and 19 were injured today as their military vehicle fell into a river in the mountainous region of Ladakh, officials said.

The Army vehicle was on its way to a forward location when it skidded off the road and fell into the Shyok river between Partapur and Turtuk, they said.

The accident took place at around 10 am, they said.

The vehicle had 26 soldiers on board, of whom 7 died instantly while 19 were wounded, the officials said.

Some of the injured suffered grievous injuries, they said.
