Mendhar (Jammu and Kashmir): Don’t roam around in the forests or fields at night, particularly wearing shawls or blankets.

This directive has been issued by SDM of Mendhar Imran Rashid for the jurisdiction of this Tehsil of Poonch district, which is located along the Line of Control (LoC) with Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).

The area for which the prohibition has been ordered includes the routes used by terrorists to infiltrate from PoJK and often becomes a battle ground after the Indian Army intercepts them.

The directive by the civil authority has been issued after it was brought to its notice by the Army that some civilians visit/roam in forest areas/fields during night hours wearing shawls/blankets.

“Security agencies including army, para military & police often launch search operations in the forest areas alongside LOC during odd hours in order to combat any anti-national /terrorist activities.

“The general public is hereby informed through the medium  circular that no person shall visit/roam in the forest areas during lnight hours from 09:00 PM to 04:00 AM without seeking prior permission from concerned Army/Police authorities in order to avoid any mishappening,” the advisory said. (NVI)
