Baloch fighters mar Pakistan’s I-Day celebrations with multiple attacks, 14 soldiers killed

Quetta: Marring Pakistan’s Independence Day celebrations, Baloch freedom fighters targeted the occupying military at many places in Balochistan and claimed to have killed at least 14 enemy soldiers and injured several others.

Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) said it targeted Pakistani military and “so-called Pakistani Independence Day celebrations” in eight separate attacks in Bolan, Turbat, Panjgur, Kalat and Mastung, killing 4 enemy personnel and injuring several others.

Meanwhile, another group Baloch Liberation Front (BLF) said it killed 10 Pakistani soldiers in attacks at 7 locations, including Pakistani Army camps and outposts in Mashkai, Gichk , Jahoo, Shapuk, Peerandr , Malaar and Kolwah.

Both BLA and BLF are engaged in armed struggle to liberate Balochistan from illegal Pakistani occupation.

BLA said it targeted a State gathering for “so-called Pakistani Independence Day celebrations” in Kolpur Bolan with a hand grenade yesterday, inuring “several enemies”.

The previous night, BLA fighters targeted the main Pakistani military camp in Turbat with grenade launchers, injuring at least 3 enemy personnel, its spokesman Jeeyand Baloch said in a statement.

In another attack in Turbat, two collaborators of Pakistani military were killed when BLA fighters raided a location on an intelligence tipoff, he said.

In Panjgur, BLA fighters attacked the Deputy Commissioner office with a hand grenade, when an event related to the so-called Independence Day was underway, the spokesman said.

In another attack in Gichk area of Panjgur, BLA fighters targeted a patrolling party of occupying forces, he said, adding the enemy troops suffered heavy losses.

In Mangochar, Kalat, BLA fighters targeted the main Pakistani military camp from two directions, triggering an intense gunfight in which 2 enemy personnel were killed, Jeeyand Baloch said.

After the successful attack, the frustrated enemy troops fired towards the civilian areas, killing a poor nomad, he said.

Earlier, on August 11, BLA fighters targeted two government buildings, the Police line offices and the Municipal Committee office, with hand grenades in Mastung, he said, adding the occupying State’s Police suffered losses in these attacks.

These attacks are besides the major suicide attack carried out by two 2 freedom fighters of BLA in Gwadar on August 13, targeting Chinese engineers. At least 4 Chinese nationals and 9 Pakistani soldiers were killed in the attack but both Pakistan and China suppressed details about the casualties.

BLF said it initiated a series of attacks starting August 12, when a military camp in Kahan, Gichk area of Panjgur district, was hit with rockets and heavy weapons, resulting in the death of one Pakistan army officer and injuries to another.

This attack was carried out at 8 PM (Pakistan time) and at 10:30 PM, the BLF freedom fighters attacked Pakistan army camp on the Barag Hill in the Shapuk district of Kech, its spokesman Major Gwahram Baloch said in a statement.

They used rockets and heavy automatic weapons, resulting in the death of one Pakistani army Personnel and injury to another, he said.

The next day, BLF fighters attacked Pakistan Army at 4 locations in Awaran district, he said.

At 7 PM on August 13, the BLF fighters targeted an army post with rockets and automatic weapons in the Nondara Jahao area of the Awaran district, resulting in the death of 2 Army personnel while one officer suffered severe injuries, the spokesman said.

The second attack was carried out at 8 PM, targeting the occupying army camp in the Malishband area of Mashkai with rockets and heavy weapons, resulting in the death of 2 army personnel and injuring 3 others.

At 9 pm, the Baloch freedom fighters targeted a military camp in the Pirandar Kuch area of Awaran with rockets and heavy weapons, marking the third attack of the night, the spokesman said, adding this attack resulted in the death of one army personnel, while another sustained injury.

Around 10 PM, the freedom fighters launched their fourth attack on the Pakistani military camp in Malaar Kahan Awaran, using rockets and heavy weapons once again and killing 2 army personnel and injuring one seriously, he said.

On August 13, at 7:30 pm, Sarmachars attacked a Pakistani army camp at Boloor-Kolwah in the Kech area, as a result of which one soldier was killed, and three others were injured, the spokesman said.

He said the occupying Pakistani forces resorted to forceful evictions of people from their homes in various parts of Balochistan, coercing them to participate in the events on August 14.
