Quetta (Balochistan), July 1 (NVI) Once again showing their strength, Baloch freedom fighters in dozens today stormed Mastung city of Pakistan-occupied Balochistan and took control of its streets, key government offices and banks for several hours.
The heavily-armed fighters descended on the city in the morning and immediately spread out, seizing control of the key installations, locals reported.
They set ablaze some important government installations, including Tehsildar’s office and banks and few government vehicles.
There was an exchange of fire between the freedom fighters and Pakistani forces, in which one person was killed and 7 were injured.
After some initial resistance, the government forces yielded and the freedom fighters went around moving freely in the city.
Enthusiastic locals were seen clicking photos and shooting videos of the freedom fighters akin to heroes.
This was not for the first time that the freedom fighters have taken control of a major town or city of Balochistan. In fact, such a thing has happened several times in the recent months, with the Baloch fighters seeking to show their power.
Balochistan is under illegal occupation of Pakistan since 1948 and the locals have been fighting for independence of the region for several decades now. (NVI)
