Quetta: Refusing to tolerate anymore the genocide and exploitation of their resources by Pakistan and China, the people of occupied Balochistan are set to launch a massive public movement from July 28, which will “mark the beginning of a powerful public resistance”.

On that day, indigenous people from all parts of Balochistan will gather in Gwadar under the ‘Baloch National Gathering’ programme organised by Baloch Yekjehti Committee or BYC.

Hectic moblisation is underway for the programme, which is expected to witness the attendance of lakhs of people.

“Over the past seven decades, Balochistan has faced the same oppression and exploitation as a typical imperial colony….Now, we, the Baloch people, will no longer remain silent against the Baloch genocide and our exploitation,” said a statement issued by the BYC today.

“We are about to launch a public movement against the Baloch genocide, the exploitation of Baloch resources in the name of so-called megaprojects, and the conversion of Balochistan into a prison under the guise of security,” it said.

“The Baloch National Gathering serves as a historic public referendum against the Baloch genocide, the exploitation of Baloch resources under the guise of so-called megaprojects, and the conversion of Balochistan into a prison under the pretext of security,” the BYC said.

“It will also mark the beginning of a powerful public resistance,” it said.

The BYC, earlier in January this year, organised a massive march from Balochistan to Pakistan’s capital Islamabad over the issue of missing persons and it was a big success.

“We want to make it clear to the state of Pakistan and all countries involved directly or indirectly in the Baloch genocide and the exploitation of Baloch resources, including China, that we will no longer tolerate genocide on our land under any circumstances,” the BYC said.

The statement noted that the Baloch people, despite being the rightful inheritors of Balochistan for thousands of years, live like refugees on their own land because of the occupying force Pakistan.

“The Baloch are not safe in their homes; enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, forced displacements, military operations, murders in road accidents, and other direct or indirect means are being used to massacre the Baloch people,” the BYC pointed out.

“On the other hand, Pakistan is making false claims of development, prosperity, and mega projects in Balochistan,” it said.

It said Gwadar, designated as the center of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor or CPEC, lacks clean drinking water and electricity is barely available for four to six hours during the scorching heat of 50 degrees.
