Quetta, July 20 (NVI) The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed to have killed 7 Pakistani military personnel, including a Major, and injured several others in attacks in three districts of Balochistan.
In the most brazen and high-voltage attack, the BLA fighters eliminated Major Anwar Kakar in Jabal-e-Noor area of Quetta yesterday.
BLA spokesman Jeeyand Baloch said Major Kakar was killed through the use of a remote-controlled improvised explosive device (IED).
The attack was an “intelligence-based operation” executed by the Special Tactical Operations Squad (STOS) of BLA, on the basis of information provided by its intelligence wing, ‘ZIRAB’, the spokesman said.
A CCTV visual showed a motorcycle, with two persons, approaching and moving close to the vehicle of the Major on a busy road and apparently pasting a magnetic bomb which explodes immediately after.
The officer was killed on the spot due to the blast on the driver’s side of the black SUV.
The attackers can be seen speeding away after causing the blast.
The BLA said Major Kakar had been involved in counterinsurgency operations and “information warfare” against the Baloch national movement.
Earlier on Friday, BLA fighters ambushed a Pakistani military convoy in Zali area of Mastung district, killing 6 army personnel and injuring several others.
In another attack, using remote-controlled IED, two military personnel were injured in Manjhu Shori area of Naseerabad district.
They military personnel were targeted when they arrived to provide security to a convoy, Jeeyand Baloch said. (NVI)
