Update
Quetta, May 31 (NVI) Shattering the authority of occupying Pakistani State, Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has seized control of the crucial city of Surab in Balochistan, leaving dead several government personnel, including an Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC).
Hundreds of BLA freedom fighters launched a coordinated operation on Friday evening, targeting key administrative and public institutions.
BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch said the organization’s fighters took over key government installations including a bank, the Levies station, and the police station.
Checkpoints and patrols were also being carried out on the main Quetta-Karachi highway and the Surab-Gidar road, he said in a brief statement to NVI.
A number of government vehicles were set ablaze.
Balochistan Government spokesman Shahid Rind confirmed that BLA cadres had taken control of Surab.
He said BLA cadres looted the National Bank located in the heart of Surab market and set fire to several houses of senior government officers, including the residence of the Assistant Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Hidayat Balodi.
The attack also targeted the DC House, Police and Levies stations, with BLA fighters seizing weapons and vehicles, Rind said.
Over the last one year, there have been a number of such operations carried out by Baloch freedom fighters wherein they seize control of key areas or highways for some time to send out a message to the Pakistani State.
The increase in such operations reflects a weakening grip of the Pakistani State which is illegally occupying Balochistan. (NVI)
