Quetta: Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) tonight threatened to target functions that would be organised in occupied Balochistan by the Pakistan Army in connection with the upcoming Independence Day.

It issued the threat while claiming responsibility for an attack carried out this morning at a Pakistan Army function organised in Quetta in connection with Pakistan’s Independence Day, which is August 14.

A ceremony organized under the auspices of the Pakistan Army in the premises of SBK University on Bruri Road in Quetta was attacked with 2 hand grenades at around 10 am.

“The occupying Pakistani army is using educational institutions for its colonial purposes,” BLA spokesman Jeeyand Baloch said in a statement.

“We make it clear that the so-called Independence Day celebrations organized under the patronage of the occupying Pakistani army will be our target,” he threatened.

He said the occupying Pakistan army wants to throw dust in the eyes of the world regarding the war-torn situation of Balochistan by organizing such events by spending crores of rupees.

BLA is a frontline Baloch armed group fighting for liberation of Balochistan which was occupied by Pakistan by force in 1948.
