Shaal (Balochistan): The occupied territory of Balochistan witnessed increased ‘Enforced Disappearances’ at the hands of the Pakistani State agencies in February, with women being the prime targets during this month, according to Baloch National Movement (BNM).
“If global and human rights organizations do not hold Pakistan accountable, then the human rights situation in Balochistan will take the worst shape,” said the BNM’s Human Rights Department ‘Paank’.
In its monthly report, PaanK said at least 39 people were forcibly disappeared from Balochistan in February 2023 while a man was tortured till death by the Pakistani army.
The ‘Enforced Disappearances’ is a tool used by the Pakistani forces and their proxies wherein innocent Baloch people, including women and children, are illegally picked up and after that their whereabouts are never known.
While some of them are killed by the Pakistani forces in cold blood in an extra-judicial manner and their bodies disposed of quietly, some are kept in illegal detention for years and decades together.
A few are released after extreme torture, sometimes to the extent that the victims lose mental or physical capacity for life.
The Paank report gave details of the people, including women, who became victims of ‘Enforced Disappearances’ during the last month.
It also said that on February, 13 victims of ‘Enforced Disappearances’ were released after physical and mental torture.
The report says that for the past two decades, people have been detained and forcibly disappearing, forcibly disappearing citizens and torturing them without judicial action severely violates human rights.

According to PaanK, there is a humanitarian crisis in Balochistan but nobody is paying attention, because of which the Pakistan Army boldly violates the rights of the Baloch.
It requested the United Nations and other institutions to take practical actions to prevent Pakistani crimes in Balochistan.
