Quetta: Baloch National Movement (BNM) has outlined “clear procedures and goals” for Balochistan’s independence from Pakistan, according to leaders of the organisation which has been resisting the illegal occupation for decades.
At a meeting, the leaders, including BNM’s Junior Joint Secretary Hasan Dost Baloch, Central Committee Member Aslam Baloch, Zone President Mehran and Vice President Talar Naz, asserted that advancing this struggle is the responsibility of all.
They underlined that everyone must diligently adhere to the “procedures” and “goals” outlined by the organisation for Balochistan’s independence, according to a statement issued by BNM.
At the same time, they advised that everyone needed to remain vigilant as “the State (of Pakistan) is actively working to undermine our pursuit of freedom”.
Hasan Dost Baloch recalled the time when Balochistan gained freedom from the Britishers on August 11, 1947 and said it was achieved through immense sacrifices.
“Those sacrifices continue to inspire our struggle against Pakistan,” he said.
Balochistan had enjoyed freedom only for a few months after Britishers left as Pakistan occupied the region militarily on March 27, 1948, making it a colony again.
The speakers said that after British occupation ended and Balochistan declared its Independence on August 11, Britain sought to protect its regional interests by partitioning India and this division led to the creation of Pakistan, which subsequently forcefully occupied Balochistan.
In their speeches, they emphasized that since Pakistan’s occupation, Baloch political activists and leaders have sacrificed their lives for Balochistan’s freedom.
The martyrs’ enduring wish is for Balochistan to regain its independence.
They also noted the extensive list of Baloch martyrs who gave their lives for Balochistan’s freedom and to advance the party’s policies and said their dreams and aspirations needed to be fulfilled.
