BSF jawan injured in accidental rifle discharge in Baramulla

Srinagar, Jan 13(NVI): A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan sustained injuries when his service rifle accidentally went off during routine patrolling in the Old Town area of Baramulla district of North Kashmir today.

According to officials, Constable Manish Meghwal was struck by the bullet after the rifle discharged unexpectedly. Immediate medical assistance was provided, and Meghwal was rushed to a local hospital, where his condition is now stable, they added.

The incident has raised concerns regarding the safety protocols followed by security forces during high-risk operations. While such accidental discharges are rare, they highlight the importance of continuous training and stringent safety measures to prevent mishaps in the field.

Authorities have not yet disclosed the exact cause of the rifle discharge, and an investigation is expected to be launched to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident (News Vibes of India)
