New Delhi (NVI): Forty buses will leave from Delhi today to bring back students hailing from the national capital, who are stuck in Rajasthan’s Kota amid lockdown, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today.

The students will be back tomorrow, Kejriwal said, while addressing a press conference here. Yesterday, the CM had announced that the Delhi government will bring back the students from Kota. He said that the Centre has given permission to operate buses to bring back students who were preparing for IIT exams at coaching centers in Kota.

Kejriwal also appealed to the students to quarantine or isolate themselves for 14 days after they get back home.

On the coronavirus situation in Delhi, the Chief Minister said that the first patient from LNJP hospital under Plasma therapy has recovered. The Delhi government-run Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) Hospital is functioning as a dedicated Covid-19 hospital. “Trials are still going on. This is a positive and encouraging sign for our fight against Corona,” he said adding that Centre had given permission to Delhi government to conduct Plasma therapy trials.

He said that initial results of Plasma therapy have been “good” in Delhi. On the confusion over Centre’s recent statement on the therapy, he said that the Union Health Ministry had said that only those who have got permission to conduct the trials will go ahead.

“The Plasma therapy results are not final now, these are just trails. This is what the Central government has said and we have also agreed on it. We are doing trials on serious patients in LNJP hospital and examining the results. We are also hoping for better results so that we get a solution to this problem. Some people are asking if we are stopping the trials…we are not, in fact, the trials are going on actively and whatever be the results, I will brief you on that,” he said.

There have been 3515 cases in Delhi since last night, out of which 1100 people have recovered and went back to their homes, Kejriwal said. 59 people have died and 2362 cases are active, he added.

He further said that Delhi government has increased testing to identify and treat coronavirus cases on time. “In Delhi, 2300 tests are being conducted on every 10,00,000 or per million population,” he said. Whereas the national average is 500 tests, he said.

He said that several areas have been turned into containment zones in Delhi and these zones are further reducing after showing improvement.
