New Delhi (NVI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that ‘Tika Utsav’ will be celebrated from April 11 to 14 for COVID-19 vaccination and urged youth to help in getting people above 45 years vaccinated.
Chairing a meeting with chief ministers over the COVID-19 situation in the country, Modi said, “April 11 is Jyotiba Phule ji’s birth anniversary and April 14 is Baba Saheb’s birth anniversary, in the meantime let us all celebrate ‘Tika Utsav’.”
“Our effort should be that in this Tika Utsav, we get more and more people vaccinated. I would also urge the youth of the country to help all those people around you, above the age of 45 years to get vaccinated,” he added.
He said that on the one hand some states have crossed the peak of first wave of COVID-19 while others are moving towards it and it is a matter of serious concern.
“In today’s review, some things are clear to us, we need to pay special attention to. First, the country has crossed the peak of the first wave, and this time the growth rate is faster than before. Second, many states including Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat have crossed the first wave peak,” he said.
“Some other states are also moving towards this. This is a matter of concern for all of us. This is a serious concern,” the Prime Minister added.
He said that this sudden increase of cases has created problems.
“This time people have become more ignorant than before. Administration is also visible in most states. In such a situation, this sudden increase of corona cases has created problems,” he said.
The Prime Minister said people should not become careless after taking the COVID-19 vaccine and keep wearing mask.
